Jadon Neves Named Little East Conference Menís Soccer Rookie of the Week


Providence, RIóRhode Island College freshman goalkeeper Jadon Neves (Warren, RI) was named the Little East Conference Menís Soccer Rookie of the Week for his performance in two games last week.


Neves backboned RIC to two, shutout victories in a 2-0 week for the Anchormen. He made three saves in RICís, 2-0, win over Worcester State on Oct. 27 and then made another three stops in RICís landmark, 3-0, win over Plymouth State College on Oct. 30. For the season, Neves has played in 14 games, starting 12 of them. He has a record of 8-5-1 with 63 saves, five shutouts and has logged a .788 save percentage and a 1.25 goals against average.


He is a 2003 graduate of Mt. Hope High School.



Head Coach John Melloís team finished the regular season with a 10-7-2 overall record and a 4-2-1 (second place) mark in the Little East Conference.






The win over Plymouth State gives the Anchormen second place in the conference, the highest LEC finish in the programís history. Prior to the victory, the Anchormen had lost the last 18 meetings between the two clubs. RIC tied PSU in 1985 and 1981, and was 0-21-2 over the past 23 years against the Panthers.






The two clubs wonít have to wait long for a re-match as second-seeded RIC will host third-seeded Plymouth State in a semi-final game on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 2:30 p.m. Top-seeded Keene State will host fourth-seeded Eastern Connecticut on Nov. 3 as well. The winners will meet at the highest remaining seedís home site on Saturday, Nov. 6.
