Rhode Island College Womenís Lacrosse
Earns ECAC Tournament Bid
Anchorwomen earn first-ever post-season bid

(8-6 Overall; 0-6 in the Little East)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Ryan Angelís team has been selected to compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Div. III Womenís Lacrosse Tournament. RIC is the sixth seed and will face third-seeded University of New England on Wednesday, May 11.

 

The rest of the field includes top seed Endicott, second-seeded Plymouth State, fourth-seeded Keene State, fifth-seeded New England College and seventh-seeded Lasell.

 

 The Anchorwomen are 8-6 overall and were 0-6 in the Little East Conference. RICís eight wins are the most in a single season in program history.

 

The 2005 Anchorwomen

Sophomore center Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. She has a team-high 94 points and a team-best 79 goals to go along with 15 assists. Gavin has also compiled a team-high 163 shots, 134 on goal, 89 draw controls and 87 ground balls. She has established new RIC records for a single season in goals, points, shots, shots on goal, draw controls and ground balls. She is second in the nation (Div. III) in points, goals, draw controls and ground balls per game as of last week. She has been named the Little East Conference Player of the Week once this season.

 

Senior attack Danielle Beaudry (West Greenwich, RI) played in ten games, starting all of them. Beaudry broke her leg against Elms on Apr. 18 and will be out for the remainder of the season. Prior to being injured, she had compiled 29 points on 16 goals and 13 assists. Beaudry registered 36 shots, 29 on goal, 36 ground balls and 16 draw controls.

 

Freshman attack Melissa Reggio (Commack, NY) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. She has 48 points on 31 goals and a team-high 17 assists. Reggio has compiled 87 shots, 70 on goal, 42 ground balls and 18 draw controls.

 

Junior attack Crystal Colagiovanni (Johnston, RI) has played in 14 games, starting ten of them. She has 20 points on 19 goals and one assist. Colagiovanni has compiled 55 shots, 40 on goal, 38 ground balls and 20 draw controls.

 

Freshman attack Krista MacKinnon (Exeter, RI) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. She has 11 points on eight goals and three assists. MacKinnon has compiled 18 shots, 15 on goal, 36 ground balls and two draw controls.

 

Freshman attack Kerry McDevitt (Jamestown, RI) has played in 14 games, starting 13 of them. She has six points on three goals and three assists. McDevitt has compiled six shots, four on goal, 26 ground balls and one draw control.

 

Freshman defender Leah Hayes (Coventry, RI) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. She has 11 points on eight goals and three assists. Hayes has compiled 20 shots, 14 on goal and 51 ground balls to go along with 23 draw controls.

 

Freshman defender Marissa Kielbasinski (Windsor, CT) has played in 12 games, starting ten of them. Kielbasinski has compiled one assist for one point along with 27 ground balls and two draw controls.

 

Freshman defender Erin Duffy (North Dighton, MA) has played in 14 games, starting ten of them. Duffy has compiled 19 ground balls and two draw controls.

 

Freshman defender Sydney Culbertson (North Kingstown, RI) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. Culbertson has five shots, four on goal, 49 ground balls and three draw controls.

 

Senior defender Erika Babat (North Kingstown, RI) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. Babat has compiled one assist for one point along with 43 ground balls and eight draw controls.

 

Sophomore goalkeeper Micaela Morris (Barrington, RI) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. She has a record of 8-6 and has made 112 saves, logged a save percentage of .448 and has a goals against average of 9.79.

 

Freshman attack Kerry Donahue (Rehoboth, MA) has played in 13 games, starting eight of them. She has three points on two goals and one assist. She has 20 shots, 13 on goal, 20 ground balls and two draw controls.
