Davon Yarbrough Named Little East Rookie of the Week


Providence, RIóRhode Island College freshman guard Davon Yarbrough (New Haven, CT) was named the Little East Conference Menís Basketball Rookie of the Week for his performance in two games.


Yarbrough helped the Anchormen to a 1-1 week, averaging 13.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Yarbrough had a breakout game in RICís, 95-87, win over UMass-Boston on Jan. 8, notching a career-high 20 points, nine rebounds, and tied a career-high with four assists.


For the season, he has played in 11 games. He is averaging 7.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game.


Yarbrough is a physical education major and a 2004 graduate of Hyde Leadership.


Head Coach Jack Perriís team is 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the Little East Conference. In upcoming action, the Anchormen will play three games this week. RIC will host LEC opponent Southern Maine on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 7:30 p.m. The Anchormen will then play M.I.T. at The Murray Center on Thursday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. before traveling to LEC foe Keene State on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 3 p.m.
