Kari Geisler Named Little East Player of the Week


Providence, RI—Rhode Island College sophomore forward Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) was named the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her performance in three games last week. This is the second time this season Geisler has received this honor.


She averaged 15.7 points and 12.0 rebounds per contest in a 1-2 week. She notched a double-double, in scoring and rebounding, in all three games, bringing her season total to six on the year. She had 11 points and ten boards in a, 71-62, loss to Plattsburgh on Jan. 3. Geisler notched 15 points and 14 rebounds in RIC’s loss to nationally ranked Wesleyan, 72-53, on Jan. 6. She scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Anchorwomen’s,  73-54, win over UMass-Boston on Jan. 8


For the season, she has played in 12 games, starting 11 of them. She is averaging 12.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 0.9 blocks per game. She has also been named to the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll once this season.


Geisler is a physical education/health major and a 2003 graduate of Pinkerton Academy.


Head Coach Spencer Manning’s team is 4-8 overall and 1-2 in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen will play at The Murray Center on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 5:30 p.m. against LEC foe Southern Maine before going on the road for their next two games. RIC will travel to Pine Manor on Thursday, Jan. 13 for a 6 p.m. tilt before visiting LEC opponent Keene State on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 1 p.m.
