Colleen Feeney Named Little East Rookie of the Week


Providence, RIóRhode Island College freshman forward Colleen Feeney (Providence, RI) was named the Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Rookie of the Week for her performance in a 2-1 week for the Anchorwomen.


Feeney averaged 12.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game last week. She scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed six rebounds in RICís win over Keene State on Jan. 15. She posted her first career double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds in RICís win over Pine Manor on Jan. 13.


For the season, she has played in five games, starting one of them. She is averaging 9.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.


Feeney is a physical education major and a 2004 graduate of La Salle.


Head Coach Spencer Manningís team is 6-9 overall and 2-3 in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen went 2-1 last week. RIC dropped their first contest of the week at home to nationally-ranked Southern Maine, 61-51, on Tuesday, Jan. 11. The Anchorwomen then went on the road and defeated Pine Manor, 70-42, on Thursday, Jan. 13 before taking a, 59-55, decision over LEC opponent Keene State on Saturday, Jan. 15.


In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will play two LEC games at home this week. RIC will host UMass-Dartmouth on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 5:30 p.m. The Anchorwomen will then host Plymouth State on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 1 p.m.
