RIC Softball Season Ends
Due To Inclement Weather


Providence, RIóThe NCAA New England Div. III Softball Regional Championship has been shortened due to heavy rainfall and poor field conditions. By NCAA rule, after eight games have been played the highest-seeded undefeated team advances. Therefore, Williams (1-0) advances to the National Championship Round in Raleigh, N.C. on May 19-23.


The Rhode Island College softball team, which was 2-0 at the Regional, ends its season with a 35-8-1 record. The Anchorwomen were scheduled to take on top-seeded Williams today at 4 p.m. to decide which team would advance.


Head Coach Maria Morinís team was making their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the Little East Conference Softball Tournament for the first time in school history.
