Rhode Island College 70 – Westfield State 46


WESTFIELD – Sophomore forward Josalee Danieli scored a game-high 17 points and junior forward Kari Geisler had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead Rhode Island College to a 70-46 victory over Westfield State on Nov. 29.


RIC (3-1) led 32-26 at halftime and pulled away early in the second half when it outscored Westfield, 38-20. Both teams shot 42 percent from the field, but the visitors controlled the inside, holding the edge in rebounding (41-28) and free throw shooting. 


RIC was 15-for-23 from the foul line while Westfield (2-2) was 2-for-9 from the charity stripe. In addition, the Owls committed 28 turnovers, including 16 in the second half.


Also scoring in double figures for the winners was senior guard Jamie Angell with 11 points, including three 3-point baskets. 


Freshman forward Andrea Wasuk of Lenox led Westfield with 10 points. Junior forward Kristen Strole of Agawam had eight points and a team-high six rebounds.
