Noel Places Second With 76

Sterling, MAŚThe UMass-Dartmouth Corsairs won the 2006 Worcester State Invitational golf tournament Tuesday afternoon at the soggy Sterling National Golf Club. With the rain beginning early in the round, the Corsairs were able to post a round of 328 to take the tournament by a stroke over the host Worcester State College Lancers (329) and the Rhode Island College Anchormen (333)

UMass-Dartmouth's Tyler Kett (Brewster, MA) took the medalist honors posting the low round of 71 on the Par 71 course.  Rhode Island College's Lionel Noel (West Warwick, RI) placed second, shooting 76 on the day.  Jon Mazzone (Millbury, MA) and UMD's Kyle Pelletier (Acushnet, MA) tied for 3rd with 77's.  The Lancers Zach Camarra (Auburn, MA) rounded out the top 5 with a 78.

In upcoming action, RIC will compete at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 22-23.
