Rhode Island College Menís Cross Country
Places 29th at ECAC Championships


Williamstown, MAóThe Rhode Island College menís cross country team placed 29th overall (40 Teams) with a score of 851 at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Div. III New England Cross Country Championships, hosted by Williams College on Saturday, Nov. 4. Williams won the meet with a score of 31.


Head Coach Kevin Jackson held the Anchormenís top runner, senior Eric Lonergan (North Kingstown, RI), out of the race in preparation for next weekís NCAA Regional Championships.


Junior Greg Ahnrud (Chepachet, RI) was RICís top finisher, placing 151st overall with a time of 29:42. Freshman Jim Smith (Saunderstown, RI) placed 171st with a time of 29:59, junior Mike Van Gieson (Foster, RI) placed 187th with a time of 30:32, sophomore David Simpson (West Warwick, RI) placed 188th with a time of 30:33, sophomore Bryan Diggle (Scituate, RI) placed 210th with a time of 31:16 and junior Greg Clark (Pawtucket, RI) rounded out the RIC contingent, placing 234th with a time of 32:33.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the New England Div. III Regional Championships, hosted by Springfield College on Saturday, Nov. 11.
