Bucci, Nyzio & Horsman Lead Rhode Island College Womenís Track & Field at Bryant Invitational


Smithfield, RIó The Rhode Island College womenís outdoor track and field team competed at the Bryant Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 7. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.


Sophomore Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI) placed first in the hammer with a distance of 43.65 meters.


Freshman Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) placed second in the hammer and third in the discus with efforts of 39.52 and 31.59 meters, respectively. Bucci placed fourth in the shot with a distance of 10.24 meters.


Sophomore Ashley Nyzio (Pawtucket, RI) placed second in the javelin with a distance of 39.13 meters.


Sophomore Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) placed fourth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:09.58 and second in the high jump with a leap of 1.53 meters.


Freshman Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) placed fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 14.01 and sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 9.77 meters.


Freshman Elizabeth Ann Glunt (Altoona, PA) placed fifth in the long jump at 4.64 meters and ninth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:10.29.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 14 beginning at 10 a.m.
