Polak & Palazzo Lead Rhode Island College
Menís Track & Field at Bryant Invitational


Smithfield, RIó The Rhode Island College menís outdoor track and field team competed at the Bryant Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 7. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.


Senior Rich Palazzo (Johnston, RI) placed first in the hammer with a 48.23-meter effort.


Junior James Polak (Smithfield, RI) placed third in both the discus and hammer with distances of 35.75 and 39.46 meters, respectively.


Junior Mike Van Gieson (Foster, RI) placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.43.


Senior Dan Newman (Smithfield, RI) placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.54 and fourth in the high jump with a 1.88-meter effort.


Junior Greg Ahnrud (Chepachet, RI) placed fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.20


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 14 beginning at 10 a.m.
