Josh Cardoso Named Little East Conference
Baseball Player of the Week


Providence, RIóRhode Island College sophomore shortstop Josh Cardoso (Dartmouth, MA) was named the Little East Conference Baseball Player of the Week.


In three Little East Conference games last week, Cardoso led Rhode Island College to a 3-0 mark with a .714 (10-for-14) batting average to go along with seven RBIs, six runs scored, a pair of home runs and a triple. He went 4-for-5 from the dish, serving up his first career multiple home run game, a season-high five RBIs, and two runs scored, to lead the charge as the Anchormen overpowered conference foe UMass Dartmouth, 13-3, on Apr. 5. Cardoso continued his white-hot hitting into a doubleheader against UMass Boston on Apr. 7. He was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI to lift Rhode Island College to a 6-4 victory in game one, while adding three hits, including a triple, two runs scored and an RBI as the Anchormen took the nightcap, 9-4. Cardoso sits atop the conference standings in batting average (.491), slugging percentage (.825), on-base percentage (.561), runs scored (21), while sharing the lead in home runs (4).  


Head Coach Jay Grenierís team is 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the Little East Conference.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday, Apr. 11 at 3:30 p.m.
