McDevitt Leads RIC With Five Points

Providence, RI—One
day after Rhode Island College won its first Little East Conference
game in five years, UMass Dartmouth handed the Anchorwomen a 17-12
league loss in collegiate women’s lacrosse action at the RIC Lacrosse
Complex. Rhode Island College falls to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the LEC,
while the Corsairs improve to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference. |

UMass Dartmouth senior attacker Katelyn Elliott
(Lowell, MA) and junior midfielder Marie Spang (Wakefield, MA)
paced the Corsairs attack with 11 and five points, respectively.
Elliott registered a game-high seven goals, while Spang netted five.
Elliott added four helpers for a game-high 11 points.

The Anchorwomen outshot the Corsairs, 33-24, but were
unable to overcome an eight-goal halftime deficit. RIC junior
midfielder Kerry McDevitt (Jamestown, RI) scored twice and
handed out three assists for a team-high five points. Senior center
Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) scored a team-high four goals. |

Rhode Island College freshman netminder Katie
Kielbasinski (Windsor, CT) made four saves as her record dips to
3-7. UMD junior Erin Doherty (West Newbury, MA) made 14 saves
as she ups her mark to 3-2. |

Bridgewater State on Tuesday, Apr. 24 at 6 p.m. |
