Josh Cardoso Signs with the Orleans Cardinals
of the Cape Cod Baseball League


Providence, RIóRhode Island College sophomore shortstop Josh Cardoso (Dartmouth, MA) has signed a temporary contract with the Orleans Cardinals of the Cape Cod Baseball League. He is the first RIC baseball player to see action in the storied summer league in over 20 years.


Cardoso was named Second Team All-New England and All-Little East Conference as a shortstop this past season. He played in 34 games, starting all of them. He batted .398 (53-for-133) with 39 runs scored, six doubles, three triples, seven home runs, 33 RBI and four stolen bases. He logged a .647 slugging percentage, a .452 on-base percentage and a .886 fielding percentage. Cardoso led the team in batting and runs scored, was tied for second in homers, and was second in both hits and RBI.




Head Coach Jay Grenierís team finished the season with a 21-14 overall record and an 8-6 mark (fourth place) in the Little East Conference. RICís 21 wins ties the 2006 editionís total for the most victories in a season since the 1979 squad won 24.
