Rhode Island College Men’s Basketball is Top Pick in Little East Coaches’ Preseason Poll


Providence, RI—Rhode Island College edged out UMass Boston by one point for the top spot in the 2006-07 Little East Conference Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Preseason Poll. The Anchormen, who were also last season’s preseason top pick, earned four of seven first place votes for a total of 45 points.


Head Coach Bob Walsh’s team was 19-10 overall and 9-5 (third place) in the Little East a year ago. The Anchormen return seven upperclassmen, including five seniors, from last year’s squad that made it to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Basketball Championship Finals.


The Anchormen, who defeated Div. I Iona, 81-72, in an exhibition game on Nov. 3, open the 2006-07 season at the Tufts University Tip-Off Tournament vs. Endicott on Friday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m.
