KEENE STATE HANDS RIC, 20-8, LOSS |

Providence, RI-Keene
State improved to 5-4 overall and picked up its first Little East
Conference win (1-0) of the season, downing Rhode Island College,
20-8, at the RIC Lacrosse Field on Monday afternoon. The Anchorwomen
remain winless with a 0-6 overall record and a 0-2 mark in league
action. |

The Owls
scored five of the game’s first six goals and seven of the first
nine en route to their highest offensive output of the season. Rhode
Island College surrendered the most goals in a game this season. |

|
|
KSC had five
players with four points apiece, led by freshman attack Lauren
Sawyer’s (Westbrook, ME) game-high four goals, while senior
attack Michelle Mazzotta (Cromwell, CT), freshman midfielder
Jenny Lillis (West Islip, NY) and senior attack Lanaya
Nelson (Chester, CT) each contribute three goals and an assist.
Freshman attack Jill Kirk (Port Jefferson Station, NY)
chipped in with two tallies and two helpers. |

midfielder Sydney Culbertson (North Kingstown, RI), freshman
attack Suany Almonte (Warwick, RI) and sophomore attack
Emily Conte (North Providence, RI) led RIC offensively with two
goals apiece. |

Owl junior
goalkeeper Jen Gearing (Westfield, MA) earned her fifth win
(5-4) with a nine-save performance. RIC freshman netminder Hilary
Switzer (Woonsocket, RI) took the loss (0-6) with six stops. |

In upcoming
action, Rhode Island College will host Little East Conference foe
Southern Maine on Thursday, Apr. 10 at 6 p.m. The Owls will host LEC
rival Plymouth State on Apr. 10 at 6:30 p.m. |
