Rhode Island College Tabs Carlos Pinhancos
as Assistant Menís Soccer Coach


Providence, R.I.óRhode Island College has named Carlos Pinhancos as an assistant menís soccer coach. He will assist Head Coach John Mello with all phases of the RIC menís soccer program, including scouting, recruiting, administering practice and game coaching.


Pinhancos was previously an assistant coach with the Community College of Rhode Island from 2006-07 and also served as a volunteer goalkeeperís coach with the Anchormen in 2005. He also has an extensive background in premier club coaching, serving as the Bayside Football Clubís Head Coach for boys under age 17 and under 18 from 2004-06. He is currently the Bayside Football Clubís Head Coach for boys under age 12 and under 18. Pinhancos is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).


He starred as a goalkeeper for the Anchormen from 1999-01, leaving RIC having played in 45 career games, starting 44 of them. He logged 4,157 career minutes and posted a 1.19 career goals against average to go along with a .821 career save percentage. Pinhancos made 253 saves in his career. He ranks fifth with 11 career shutouts all-time at RIC. He is fourth all-time in career GAA.


As a senior in 2001, he played in 19 games, starting 18 of them. He posted a 1.18 goals-against average, a .830 save percentage and made 112 saves on the season. Pinhancos logged 1,752 minutes with four shutouts.


As a junior in 2000, he played in 10 games, starting all of them. He logged 900 minutes with 47 saves, a 1.30 GAA, a .783 save percentage and one shutout on the year.


As a sophomore in 1999, he was named First Team All-Little East Conference. He backboned the team to six shutout victories. He played all 1,505 minutes of the teamís 16 games. He posted a 7-7-2 record with a 1.14 goals-against average and a .832 save percentage. Pinhancos made 94 saves on the year.


Pinhancos spent his freshman year at the Community College of Rhode Island in 1998. He was named First Team All-Region, First Team All-Conference and to the NSCAA All-East Region Team. Pinhancos spent 1997-98 as a red shirt at the University of Rhode Island.


He played for the Lusitania Sports Club from 1997-05. While at La Salle Academy from 1994-97, Pinhancos earned Second Team All-State, First Team All-Division and team MVP honors.


In addition to his coaching duties, he is a teacher at the Dr. Earl F. Calcutt Middle School in the Central Falls (RI) School District.


He earned a bachelorís degree in English/elementary education from Rhode Island College in 2005.


Pinhancos is single and resides in Cumberland, Rhode Island.
