Rhode Island College’s Softball Coaching Staff

Earns NFCA Regional Honor


Providence, RI—The National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association named Rhode Island College Head Softball Coach Maria Morin, along with Associate Head Coach Ken Stanley and Assistant Coach Kristen Norberg, the New England Region Coaching Staff of the Year for the second consecutive year.

The Anchorwomen went 36-9 overall and 12-2 (first place tie) in the Little East Conference in 2008. The Anchorwomen won their fourth consecutive LEC Regular Season Championship (sharing the title with Eastern Connecticut), third straight LEC Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Div. III Softball Tournament for the third consecutive season. Rhode Island College hosted and won the NCAA Div. III Softball Tournament New England Regional for the second straight season. The Anchorwomen were one of eight remaining teams that advanced to the National Championships where the club's season came to an end. RIC finished the year ranked 10th in the nation, tying the 2007 edition’s effort for the program's highest ranking ever.
