Jessica Cegarra Named Assistant
Women’s Volleyball Coach at Rhode Island College




Providence, RI—Rhode Island College has named Jessica Cegarra as the assistant women’s volleyball coach. She will assist Head Coach Luis Carvalho with all phases of the program including recruiting, scouting, administering practice and match coaching.




“I am excited to work with Coach Carvalho to bring the team to new levels,” Cegarra said. “Volleyball is the sport I love and I couldn’t be happier than working with student-athletes who love the sport and want to work hard and win.”




She spent the 2007 season as an assistant women’s volleyball coach at Holy Cross.








Cegarra was a four-year member of the Bryant University women's volleyball team, serving as team captain her senior year. A four-time Northeast 10 All-Conference selection, Cegarra earned Northeast-10 and AVCA Northeast Region Rookie of the Year honors. She is Bryant's all-time career blocks leader with 536 and is ranked No. 1 with 418 career block assists and sixth all-time with a .298 career hitting percentage.



The Bulldogs won the Northeast 10 Tournament three times and earned a spot in
the NCAA Division II Regional four times as the team went 102-42 in
Cegarra's four seasons. Cegarra, who was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, was also a member of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams as she set the school record in the shot put for both programs, as well as the heptathlon.






The Danville, New Hampshire native is a 2007 graduate of Bryant University, earning a bachelor’s degree in applied psychology, while minoring in marketing.


She is single and resides in Worcester, Massachusetts.
