Sherri Heard Named Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week


Providence, RI—Rhode Island College senior forward Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) was named the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Heard paced the RIC attack this past week, averaging 15.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, as the Anchorwomen posted a 2-0 record, including a 1-0 mark in the Little East Conference. Heard recorded her first collegiate double-double against UMass Boston on Dec. 1, scoring 16 points and pulling in 10 rebounds. Earlier in the week, she reached double digits in scoring against Wellesley College with 14 points.


For the season, she has played in three games, starting two of them. Heard is averaging 10.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game.


Head Coach Spencer Manning’s team is 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the Little East. In upcoming action, RIC will host Johnson & Wales on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m.
