MIKE BONORA SHINES AT
MIDLANDS WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS
|

|
Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College senior 141 lbs. Mike Bonora (Nutley, NJ)
logged an outstanding performance at the prestigious Midlands
Wrestling Championships, hosted by Northwestern University on Dec.
29-30. |

|
|
|
Bonora, who
is ranked No. 1 in the nation and New England at 141 lbs. in Div.
III, accepted an invitation to compete against some of the top Div.
I, II and III wrestlers in the nation. |

|
Bonora started off by defeating Div. I Northern
Iowa’s CJ Ettleson, 9-4. Ettleson was ranked No. 7 in the
nation. Bonora then saw his 18-match winning streak come to an end,
falling to Div. I Northwestern’s Keith Sulzer, 4-2.

|
In the consolation bracket, Bonora defeated Rider's
Fred Rodgers, 5-3. He then fell to the University of
Pittsburgh's Drew Headlee, 10-4. Bonora’s record stands at
19-2, with his only losses coming to Div. I opponents. |

Head Coach
Jay Jones’ Anchormen get back to action at the Budd Whitehill
Duals, hosted by Lycoming on Jan. 11-12. RIC is currently ranked No.
18 in the nation, No. 1 in New England and is 3-0 on the season. |
