Anchormen 2nd at New England Wrestling Championships

 GORHAM, MAINEóThe No. 22-ranked Rhode Island College wrestling team is currently second with 60 points through the second session at the New England Wrestling Championships, hosted by the University of Southern Maine. Johnson & Wales sits atop the 15-team field with 61 team points.

             Rhode Island College has showcased its powerful lineup in the first session with eight of the possible 10 wrestlers reaching the semifinal round and All-New England recognition. Senior Mike Bonora (Nutley, N.J.) and junior Mike Martini (Cranston, R.I.) held strong as the top-seeded wrestlers at 141 and 157 pounds, respectively.

             Senior Kevin Davis (Amston, Conn.) is making his second appearance on the All-New England team, while classmate Brendan Casey (Lowell, Mass.) and junior Nick Logan (Lowell, Mass.) earned their first nods.

             The Anchormen also three freshman attain regional honors as Brian Hoyt (Sussex, N.J.), Travis Drappi (West Orange, N.J.) and Kevin Sutherland (Dauphin, Pa.) earned recognition.

             The New England Championships will continue this evening until 10 p.m. and resume tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
