Women’s Volleyball Goes 1-2 at Springfield Invitational




Springfield, Mass.—Rhode Island College saw its overall record dip to 1-3 with a 1-2 performance at the Springfield College Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 5-6.




The Anchorwomen picked up their first win of the season with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-11) victory over SUNY Cobleskill on Sept. 5. Sophomore Tess Heidel (Warwick, RI) and junior Sharon Corriveau (Coventry, RI) led RIC with nine and eight kills, respectively. Senior libero Jackie Gervais (Woonsocket, RI) posted a team-high 18 digs, while sophomore setter Nicole Enos (Coventry, RI) handed out 24 assists.

RIC fell to Emerson, 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 29-27), in its first action on Sept. 6. Heidel and Corriveau contributed seven and six winners, respectively. Gervais and Corriveau logged 13 digs apiece, while Enos dished out 21 helpers.


Rhode Island College dropped its final match of the weekend to the hosts, 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-18). Senior outside hitter Tina Hilton (Woonsocket, RI) led the squad with seven kills. Corriveau logged 19 digs and six winners. Enos posted 20 assists.

In upcoming action, RIC will host Emmanuel in its home-opener on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m.
