St. Jacques Leads RIC as Golden Bears Down Anchorwomen, 3-0




Chicopee, MA—Sophomore middle blocker Erin St. Jacques (Warwick, RI) led Rhode Island College with nine kills, but Western New England swept the Anchorwomen, 3-0, in collegiate women’s volleyball action Tuesday evening at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

RIC (2-8) dropped the first two sets, 25-19, before falling in the decisive frame by three points, 25-22.



Senior libero Jackie Gervais (Woonsocket, RI) posted a match-high 33 digs, while junior outside hitter Sharon Corriveau (Coventry, RI) logged five kills and 13 digs.


Junior outside hitter Rachel Cervone (West Springfield, MA) led WNEC (4-4)with 13 kills, 12 digs and two service aces. Sophomore setter Katharina Boes (Buffalo Grove, IL) dished out a match-high 29 assists.


In upcoming action, RIC will return to The Murray Center with a match against WPI on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m.
