Nashua, NH—Sophomore Tess Heidel (Warwick, RI) and Erin St. Jacques (Warwick, RI) led Rhode Island College with 10 kills apiece as the Anchorwomen downed Framingham State, 3-1, in collegiate women’s volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.




RIC jumped out to a 1-0 lead, taking the first set by four points (25-21). The Rams came back with a win in the second set (24-26), before the Anchorwomen rebounded to take the next two frames (25-22, 25-11). St. Jacques added four blocks, while Heidel contributed six digs as the Anchorwomen stopped a four-match losing streak. Freshman setter Tiana Pittman (Warwick, RI), who was making her first collegiate start due to sophomore setter Nicole Enos’ (Coventry, RI) injury, led RIC with 22 assists and logged 12 digs. Senior libero Jackie Gervais (Woonsocket, RI) posted 21 digs.

Earlier in the day, RIC dropped a match to the tri-match’s hosts, Rivier, falling 3-1. The Anchorwomen lost the first set by two (23-25) and the second stanza by eight (17-25). RIC tried to hold off the Raiders with a set three win (25-21), before falling in the decisive fourth frame (12-25). Junior outside hitter Sharon Corriveau (Coventry, RI) registered six kills and 27 digs in a losing effort.


Rhode Island College is currently 4-12 on the season.


In upcoming action, RIC will compete at Salem State on Thursday, Oct. 2.
