Despite playing a man down for most of the second half, WestConn played RIC tough down the stretch and the game seemed to be heading for an extra session.

After a throw-in, the ball was deflected to RIC sophomore defender Corey Carvalho (Dartmouth, MA) at midfield, who promptly fired a pass towards the top of the box. Costa collected the ball, turned and fired a shot into the back of the net for his team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 89th minute.

RIC freshman goalkeeper Justin OíConnor (North Kingstown, RI) made three saves to raise his record to 5-2-2. WestConn senior netminder Dan Michalowski (Bristol, CT) made eight saves as his personal mark drops to 5-6-1.

The Anchormen held a 16-9 advantage in shots, including a 10-3 mark in the first half.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Clark, while the Colonials will host Worcester State, on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
