Providence, RIóWesleyan University won for the fourth straight match, and notched its 12th win in the past 13 contests, in a 3-0 victory over Rhode Island College in collegiate womenís volleyball action on Thursday evening at The Murray Center.




The Cardinals raise their record to 19-5, while the Anchorwomen fall to 8-18. Wesleyan dominated the first set, 25-11. Rhode Island College came back and led for the majority of the second stanza. RIC held a 24-21 advantage and was serving for set point, but the Cardinals forced a side out, tied the set and eventually won, 28-26. Wesleyan completed the sweep with a two-point, 25-23, win in the final frame.




Senior outside hitter Lisa Drennan (Ann Arbor, MI) and junior middle hitter Ashley Farrow (Evanston, IL) led Wesleyan with 10 kills apiece. Junior setter Ellie Healy (Manhattan Beach, CA) was two off the pace offensively and led all players with 23 assists. Sophomore libero Ruby Hernandez (West Palm Beach, FL) and freshman opposite side hitter Alissa Santucci (Syosset, NY) logged 13 and 12 digs, respectively.




RIC junior outside hitter Sharon Corriveau (Coventry, RI) posted five kills and nine digs, while senior libero Jackie Gervais (Woonsocket RI) registered a match-high 15 digs. Freshman setter Tiana Pittman (Warwick, RI) handed out 17 assists.




In upcoming action, RIC will resume the Little East Conference schedule at Keene State on Saturday, Oct. 25.
