The Anchorwomen raise their record to 14-2 and increase the teamís current win streak to eight games. RIC has yet to lose on its home field this spring (8-0). The Lyons see their record even up at 9-9.

RIC took game one in five innings, 8-0, jumping out to a two-run advantage in the first inning. Sophomore second baseman Amanda Perry (New Bedford, MA) tripled to lead off of the contest and scored on junior right fielder Michelle Perrinís (Saugus, MA) RBI single. Senior left fielder Kelli McCartin (Cranston, RI) plated another by drawing a bases loaded walk.

The hosts added two more in the third frame as McCartin knocked in one and later scored on junior center fielder Jackie Dubeís (Barrington, RI) single. Kostenblatt knocked in one in the fourth, then got caught in a rundown on purpose to allow sophomore catcher Kayla Jandreau (Plainville, CT) to score. Perry ended the contest in the fifth with a two-out, two-run, bases loaded double.

Sophomore Melanie Neece (Westfield, MA) earned her third win (3-1), throwing four innings of shutout ball, before giving way to sophomore Amanda Berard (Swansea, MA) to close out the contest. Wheaton junior starting pitcher Andrea Bagley (Foxboro, MA) took the loss (3-5), allowing five earned runs on 11 hits in 4.2 inning of work.

RIC wasted no time in the nightcap, putting five runs on the board in the first, and ended the contest in five again with a 13-3 victory. Sophomore third baseman Trish Koutsulis (Peoria, AZ) singled in two and sophomore first baseman Chelsi Panarelli (Shrewsbury, MA) tripled in two more as part of the outburst.

The Lyons put together their biggest offensive threat of the afternoon in the second as sophomore designated hitter Nicole DeRosa (Greenwich, CT) and senior catcher Lynn Cotto (Brookfield, CT) doubled in a run apiece, chasing RIC junior starting pitcher Jenna Deveines (Lowville, NY) from the game.

The Anchorwomen put the game out of reach with an eight-run third, highlighted by a Perrin two-run double. Wheaton finally got a run across in the top of the fifth, scoring on an error with two down, but Berard ended the game to earn her fifth (5-1) win. She struck out five and allowed just two hits in 3.1 innings. Wheaton freshman pitcher Mary Fay (Stoughton, MA) took the loss (3-1).

Perrin was another offensive star for RIC, going 4-for-6 with three runs scored, three RBI and a double.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open the Little East Conference circuit with a doubleheader vs. Southern Maine on Saturday, Mar. 28 beginning at noon.
