BERARD,
PANARELLI & PERRY NAMED TO
NCAA SOFTBALL NEW ENGLAND REGIONAL
ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
|

Providence, RI—Rhode Island
College sophomores Amanda Berard (Swansea, MA), Chelsi
Panarelli (Shrewsbury, MA) and Amanda Perry (New Bedford, MA)
were named to the NCAA Div. III Softball New England Regional
All-Tournament Team for their performances in four games. |

|
|
Berard was
named to the All-Tournament Team as a pitcher. She allowed just two
earned runs in 22 innings of work for a miniscule 0.64 ERA. Berard
tossed a no-hitter in a 1-0 win over Emerson on May 9, coming just a
passed ball away from a perfect game. She struck out 27 batters and
posted a 2-0 record in tournament play. |

Panarelli |

|
|
Panarelli was
named to the All-Tournament Team as a first baseman. She batted .462
with three homers, establishing a new program record with eight in a
season. Panarelli knocked in three, totaled 16 bases and posted a
1.231 slugging percentage in four games. Her .462 on-base percentage
was tops on the second seeded Anchorwomen. |

|
Perry was
named to the All-Tournament Team as an At-Large selection. The
second baseman blasted two homers and drove in a team-high six runs.
She totaled 12 bases for a .857 slugging percentage in four games. |

The
Anchorwomen ended their run for a third consecutive NCAA New England
Regional title in a 3-1 loss to seventh-seeded Springfield on May 9.
RIC earned wins over Bridgewater State (7-2) and Emerson
(1-0), while losing to Springfield twice (5-2, 3-1). RIC's 42-7
overall record established a new program record for victories in a
season. |
