The No. 25-ranked Rhode Island College squad raises their record to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the Little East Conference, while the Beacons fall to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in league play.

Sophomore guard Antone Gray (Providence, RI) and senior center Wil Lyons (Warwick, RI) equaled Hillís team-high offensive output with 15 points in a balanced offensive attack that saw 10 players score at least one field goal and 13 players log minutes.

Freshman forward Paul Kielb (Boston, MA) converted a Beacon layup at the 19:04 mark in the first half to tie the score at 2-2, but a freshman forward Mason Choice (Newport, RI) layup at 18:38 would put RIC back on top 4-2, for a lead they would not surrender. Choice and senior forward Kaseem Johnson (New Haven, CT) led RIC with seven rebounds apiece.

The Anchormen shot 51.4 percent (19-for-37) from the floor in the first half to jump ahead to a 48-27 lead at the intermission. In the same half, RICís defensive intensity held the Beacons to a 31.4 percent (11-for-35) field goal percentage while forcing UMB to turn the ball over 12 times.

UMass Boston would shoot the ball much better in the second half, connecting on 10 of 24 (41.7 percent) attempts but it was not enough to overcome the up-tempo style of play that the Anchormen showcased all afternoon. RIC outscored UMB 16-4 on fast break points while converting 24 points off of UMass Boston turnovers.

For the Beacons, senior guard A.J. Titus (Roxbury, MA) was in double figures netting 14 points, converting six of seven free throw attempts. Also in double figures for UMB was freshman guard Chris Milton (Milton, MA) who finished with 10 points.  Sophomore guard Anthony Brewster (Boston, MA) grabbed a game and career-high of 12 boards while chipping in with seven points.
