North Dartmouth, MA-Rhode Island College freshman forward Rachel Riley (Coventry, RI) led RIC with a career-high 15 points and 16 rebounds as the Anchorwomen cruised past UMass Dartmouth, 63-49, in a Little East Conference women's basketball battle on Tuesday night at the Tripp Athletic Center.

The  Anchorwomen even their conference mark and 3-3 and raise their overall record to 7-9. The Corsairs fall to 3-13 overall and remain winless with an 0-6 mark in league action.


 In addition to Riley's efforts, three other Anchorwomen scored in double figures. Junior guard LaSheena Boyd (Stratford, CT) logged 13 points and two assists, while senior backcourt mate Tyla Martin (Cumberland, RI) contributed 12 points and three helpers. Freshman guard and reigning Little East Conference Rookie of the Week, Stephanie Coro (North Providence, RI), rounded out the RIC contingent in double digits with a 10-point effort.


 RIC shot 47 percent (27-for-57) from the field, paced by excellent shooting nights by Riley (7-for-10), Boyd (5-for-5) and Martin (6-for-11). The Anchorwomen swiped 14 steals in the win, led by Riley and junior forward Cassi Malec (Glocester, RI) with four apiece.


Sophomore guard Tashauna Ashmeade (Hyannis, MA) and senior guard Vicki Andruszkiewicz (Danvers, MA) led UMass Dartmouth with 18 and 15 points, respectively. Junior forward Kaylin Nelson (New Bedford, MA) grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.


In upcoming action, the Anchormen will host UMass Boston on Saturday, Jan. 24 at The Murray Center.
