The Anchormen (0-1-1) found themselves trailing, 1-0, in the 72nd minute as New Paltz's Dave Gardiner controlled the ball at the top of the box, made a move, and fired a shot into the lower corner of the net.

RIC senior defender Kory Pacheco (Smithfield, RI) helped the Anchormen knot the contest with just 1:26 left in regulation by tracking the ball down on the right endline and sending a perfect cross to Goncalves for his first collegiate marker.

There were 15 fouls called against New Paltz (1-0-1), 13 against RIC and each squad was assessed two yellow cards. For the second game in a row, Rhode Island College held the advantage in shots (18-8).
