Springfield, MAThe Springfield College women's soccer team netted three goals in the second half en route to a 4-0 victory over visiting Rhode Island College in a non-conference contest Tuesday evening on Brock-Affleck Field at the Irv Schmidt Sports Complex.

With the victory, Springfield now stands at 6-2-1 on the year, while the Anchorwomen drop to 1-6.

The Pride controlled the momentum for most of the first half and was able to break into the scoring column on a goal by freshman Mary Hogan. After a corner kick from Springfield's Sue Silva, a scramble for the ball in front of the RIC goal broke out. Hogan found a way to slip through the defense and put the ball in the back of the net to score the lone goal of the opening 45 minutes.

Springfield’s second goal came just 16 seconds into the second half when sophomore Katie Mantie ripped the ball just outside the 18-yard box into the upper corner of the goal.

The Pride, which outshot the visitors, 29-4 in the game, continued to pour on the offensive pressure. In the 76th minute, Hogan scored her second goal of the evening after she took a shot inside the 18-yard box that found the back of the net. Brittany Collins scored the final goal of the contest in the 85th minute after she got free from several defenders after an impressive set of moves.

Katie Delude made a pair of saves before being spelled by Erin Greenstein for the final 14-plus minutes as the duo combined for the shutout. RIC junior Maddie Pirri (Bristol, RI) finished with 11 saves for the visitors in the loss.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference play at Keene State on Saturday, Oct. 3.
