Boston, MA—Junior Brittany LaBarre (Greenville, RI), along with freshmen Marissa Langellier (Greenville, RI) and Doris Belanger (West Warwick, RI), each won their respective singles and doubles matches as Rhode Island College scored a 7-2 win over UMass Boston in Little East Conference women’s tennis action.

The Anchorwomen improve to 7-5 overall and climb within one win (2-3) of .500 in the Little East. The Beacons see their marks drop to 2-6 and 0-5.




RIC opened the day taking two of three in doubles action. LaBarre and junior Jaclyn Eastman (Mansfield, MA) won, 9-7, at No. 2, while Langellier and Belanger combined for an 8-0 shutout at No. 3.




The Anchorwomen went on to win five of six in singles play as senior Julie Bannon (Narragansett, RI) won in straight sets (6-4, 6-1) at the top spot. Sophomore Gabriela Batek (Greenville, RI) started a run from No. 3-6 as she, as well as, LaBarre, Langellier and Belanger, all scored straight set victories.




In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference play at home against Plymouth State on Saturday, Oct. 6.
