Providence, RIóJunior Bryan Picinisco (Dartmouth, MA) tied for second overall with a score of 74 as the Rhode Island College menís golf team captured the programís first-ever invitational title at the RIC Fall Invitational played at Triggs Memorial Golf Course on Friday afternoon.

The hosts compiled a team score of 308, three strokes better than second place Johnson & Wales. Bentley University entered two groups, posting scores of 315 and 316, respectively, to round out the top four.


Providence (320), Nichols (321), UMass Dartmouth (326), Brandeis (327), Worcester State (336), Suffolk (342), Wentworth (343) and RICís second group (353) rounded out the field.

Providence Collegeís Kyle Tibbetts was the medalist with a score of 73. Bentley senior Brian Jasset (Norwood, MA) was tied for Picinisco for second overall.


RIC junior Chad Lareau (North Attleboro, MA) and senior Barrett Kern (Pawtucket, RI) tied for sixth overall at 77. Freshman Kyle Harper (Rehoboth, MA) was tied for 16th with an 80, while junior Derek Jensen (Cumberland, RI) was tied for 32nd with an 83 for the winning group.


In other RIC action, freshman Justin Coffey (Hopedale, MA) tied for 25th (82), freshman Kyle Garcia (Rehoboth, MA) tied for 51st (89), sophomore Mark Savastano (Swansea, MA) was 54th (90), junior Steve Zahn (West Warwick, RI) was 55th (92) and freshman Joseph Quinn (Dedham, MA) was 58th (95).


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at Nichols on Sunday, Oct. 11.
