Providence, RI—Juniors Corey Carvalho (Dartmouth, MA) and Helder Faustino (Warwick, RI) were honored by the Little East Conference for their respective performances in a 2-0 week for the Anchormen men's soccer team.

 Junior Defender Corey Carvalho

Carvalho was named the Little East Conference Co-Defender of the Week, sharing the honor with UMass Dartmouth junior back Andrew Eggleston (Belchertown, MA). Carvalho anchored a Rhode Island College defensive unit that did not surrender a goal this past week, defeating MIT (3-0) and Plymouth State (1-0). The Anchormen limited their opposition to just 18 shots—nine in both contests—to earn their second and third shutouts of the season, respectively. For the season, he has played in 12 games, starting 10 of them.

 Junior Goalkeeper Helder Faustino

Faustino, who was appearing in just his third and fourth collegiate games in net, was named the Little East Conference Goalkeeper of the Week. Faustino did not allow a marker in 180 minutes of action this past week to post a 0.00 goals against average and a pair of shutouts. He earned his first collegiate victory at MIT, stopping all five shots he faced. On Oct. 10, Faustino backstopped the Anchormen with a three-stop effort at Plymouth State to help Rhode Island College raise its unbeaten streak against the Panthers to 10 matches (8-0-2). He has appeared in four games, starting three of them. Faustino is 2-1-1 with two shutouts, a 1.03 goals against average and a .826 save percentage.

Head Coach John Mello's team is currently 5-5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Little East Conference.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Salem State on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
