Providence, RIóThe Rhode Island College womenís volleyball team improved to 14-11 in a 3-1 win over Lasell on Tuesday evening at The Murray Center. The Lasers lose for the seventh straight match and fall to 6-17 on the year.




The hosts dominated the first two sets, winning 25-14 and 25-17. RIC Head Coach Luis Carvalho used the third set to gain valuable match experience for some of his reserves, and the Lasers took advantage to earn a 25-21 win. With the starters back in for the fourth frame, RIC coasted to a 25-18 set and match victory.

Thirteen Anchorwomen saw action in the win. Freshman outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) continued her torrid offensive play, leading the club with 18 kills to go along with 12 digs. Junior opposite April Oberhelman (Woonsocket, RI) notched 11 kills and 14 digs, while junior outside hitter Tess Heidel (Warwick, RI) contributed a team-high 16 digs and was one kill shy of double digits. Freshman setter Jessica Ho (Providence, RI) was credited with 24 assists.

Lasell sophomore right side hitter Lauren Short (Scarsdale, NY) led the visitors with 13 kills and six blocks. Sophomore setter Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY) handed out 34 assists.




In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will host Eastern Nazarene on Thursday, Oct. 15.
