DOWN RIC WOMEN’S
LACROSSE, 17-6, IN LITTLE EAST OPENER

Freshman midfielder Haley Lattinville (North Kingstown, RI)
scored two goals and grabbed four draw controls as the Rhode Island
College women’s lacrosse team fell, 17-6, to Western Connecticut in
the Little East Conference opener for both teams at the WAC on
Saturday afternoon. |

The Colonials improved to
5-1 overall and 1-0 in the LEC, while the Anchorwomen even their
record at 2-2 overall and drop to 0-1 in league play. |

Senior attack Jessica
Majeski (Norwalk, CT) scored four goals to lead WestConn in the
win. |
|
|
|
After falling behind, 2-0 in
the opening minutes, WestConn scored 12 unanswered goals and led
13-4 at intermission. During that barrage of goals, Majeski tallied
a trio of goals, while Kara Kruczkiewicz (Brookfield, CT),
Nicole Perrone (Brookfield, CT) and Jessica Bouwman (New
Milford, CT) each put away a pair of markers. |

WestConn took its foot off
the accelerator in the second half, controlling the pace of play
after scoring the first four goals of the stanza. |

Samantha Blackwell
(Brewster, NY)
added two goals in the second half to join in the scoring frenzy. |
|
|
|
Meghan Maroney (Granby, CT)
earned the
victory in net for the Colonials after making six saves. Freshman
goalkeeper Kerry Montgomery (Franklin, MA) took the loss
between the pipes with seven saves for the Anchorwomen. |

|
Freshman midfielder
Courtney McKiernan (Hope, RI) picked up a team-high five ground
balls for the visitors, while classmate midfielder Libby Lazar
(Wakefield, RI) had four ground balls and three caused
turnovers. |
|
|
|
In upcoming action, Rhode
Island College will host Roger Williams on Monday, April 5. |
