Bristol, RI-Junior shortstop Donielle Mattoon (Coventry, RI) torched Roger Williams pitching, going 4-for-4 with three runs scored, a double, one RBI and a stolen base as the Anchorwomen tamed the Hawks, 8-3, at Paolino Field.

While preparing the field for the second game of the scheduled doubleheader, it was learned that the distance from the pitching rubber to the plate was three feet too long. Roger Williams was unable to remedy the situation so the game was cancelled.

RIC did its damage right off the bat in the opener, tagging the Hawks for three runs. Mattoon opened the floodgates with an RBI infield single. Junior catcher Kayla Jandreau (Plainville, CT) came home on a wild pitch and Mattoon came across on sophomore third baseman Cristina Bailey’s (Londonderry, NH) RBI fielder’s choice.

Jandreau brought in sophomore left fielder Jaci Lata (Lisbon, NH) with an RBI fielder’s choice in the second. The Hawks got to sophomore starter Kyla Puccini (North Dighton, MA) with two unearned runs in the second on a triple by catcher Lauren Tierney (Middleboro, MA).

Puccini closed the door over the next two innings before giving way to junior Amanda Berard (Swansea, MA) for the final three frames.

The Anchorwomen added runs in the fourth and fifth as Jandreau and junior first baseman Chelsi Panarelli (Shrewsbury, MA) notched RBI singles.

Freshman left fielder Marion Potter (East Providence, RI) added an RBI single as part of a two-run seventh.
