Belanger Picks Up Lone Win as Wildcats
Down Anchorwomen, 8-1

Providence, RI-Sophomore Doris Belanger (West Warwick, RI) won her match at No. 2 singles (6-3, 1-6, 10-8) as the Rhode Island College women’s tennis team lost, 8-1, to cross-city rival Johnson & Wales on Tuesday afternoon at the RIC Tennis Courts.

RIC drops to 0-5, while the Wildcats raise their mark to 2-3.


JWU sophomore Haley Nutter (Symmes Township, OH) picked up a straight set (6-1, 6-0) victory at No. 1 singles and paired with freshman Stephanie Roberti (Port Jefferson, NY) for an 8-2 win at the top doubles spot.


Freshman Victoria Ricciardi (Binghamton, NY), sophomore Tammy Saunders (Lancaster, PA), junior Laura Schwenk (Ottunwa, IA) and classmate Dana Trimborn (North Wales, PA) all won straight set decisions at No. 3-6 singles and combined to win at No. 2 and 3 doubles for the visitors.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Clark on Thursday, September 16.
