Junior Outside Hitter Hits .545 and Posts 20 Kills in, 3-1, Win

Providence, RI-Junior outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) was an offensive force with 20 kills as the Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team smacked Eastern Nazarene, 3-1.

Boyer hit .545 for the match, registering only two errors in 33 attempts. Senior middle blocker Tess Heidel (Warwick, RI) hit an impressive .348 with 11 kills, while freshman outside hitter Amanda Cabral (Riverside, RI) posted nine kills and four digs. Sophomore setter Jessica Ho (Providence, RI) led the squad with 38 assists.


RIC wins for the second straight match and improves to 11-14, while Eastern Nazarene drops to 3-20.


Rhode Island College set the tone early as the Anchorwomen swiped the first set, 25-8. Eastern Nazarene battled throughout the second set, overcoming a five-point deficit to tie the game at 10-10. Rhode Island College used a timeout to regroup and came back to win the set, 25-20.

The third set was back and forth throughout as six lead changes occurred. With the score all square at 23 apiece, Eastern Nazarene rallied to take the final two points to win 25-23.


The Anchorwomen jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the fourth set and cruised to an easy, 25-12, victory.


Senior Amber Burns led Eastern Nazarene with 18 kills while teammate Rachel Mun contributed to the offense with 21 assists.


In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will host Wesleyan on Tuesday, Oct. 19.
