Anchorwomen Take Home Two Relay
Titles at Swanson Invitational

Middletown, CT-The Rhode Island College women's outdoor track & field team competed at the Elmer J. Swanson Invitational, hosted by Wesleyan University on Saturday. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.


RIC's relay teams excelled in the meet, winning the 4x400m (4:15.07) and placing second in the 4x100 (52.20). Both squads were comprised of senior Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI), freshman Jessica Graham (Wakefield, RI), sophomore Kim Mangum (Warwick, RI), and freshman Natasha Miller (Wakefield, RI).

DiBlasi had an outstanding day in individual competition, where she won the 400m hurdles (1:06.38). She also finished second in the 100m hurdles (16.56). Senior Katie Desrosiers (Warwick, RI) had the only other RIC event victory, winning the 1,500m (5:01.58). She also placed fourth in the 800m (2:33.70).


Miller had a pair of third place finishes: the 100m (13.89) and the 200m (28.46).  She went onto place eighth in the long jump (4.31m). Mangum earned a trio of top-five finishes. She was second in the triple jump (10.35m), fourth in the 100m (14.19), and fifth in the long jump (4.4m). Graham also went top-five in three events. She was fourth in the 400m hurdles (1:11.15) and fifth in both the 100m hurdles (17.75) and the pole vault (2.6m). 


Freshman Jeanette Leo (Providence, RI) finished fourth in the hammer (32.94m).  Freshman Chelsea Marshall (New Bedford, MA) finished 14th in the 1,500m (5:30.57).


In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen return to competition at the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday, April 23
