DROLET
NETS THREE IN, 21-7, LOSS
AT WESTFIELD STATE

Westfield, MA--Junior
attacker Nicky Drolet (Somersworth, NH) scored three goals as
the Rhode Island College women’s lacrosse team lost, 21-7, at
Westfield State on Tuesday afternoon. |

Laura Chiricosta
(five goals, two assists) and Rachel Dionne (four goals,
three assists) shared game high scoring honors to lead the Owls
offensively. Other top point producers for Westfield State were
Maura Stack with four goals and two assists and Ari Colella
with four goals. Becca Kelley contributed two goals and an
assist. |

Westfield State improved to 5-3,
while the loss drops RIC to 3-5. |

|
Westfield jumped out to a 4-0 lead
after five minutes, but RIC knotted the score at 4-4 with 15:13 left
in the first half. The Owls then went on a scoring surge, finding
the back of the net seven times for an 11-4 lead 46 seconds into the
second half. |

Drolet stopped the run to make it
11-5 at the 26:56 mark. Westfield then ripped off 10 straight goals
for a 21-5 lead with 6:32 remaining and seal the win. |

RIC freshman goalkeeper Taryn
Carbone (Cranston, RI) made 16 saves in the loss. Sophomore
midfielder Courtney McKiernan (Hope, RI) contributed a goal,
four ground balls and two draw controls. Freshman attacker Ashley
Signoriello (Cranston, RI) pitched in with a goal, an assist and
four draw controls. |

In upcoming action, Rhode Island
College will host Nichols on Thursday, April 14 (4 p.m.). |
