Providence, RI-Rhode Island College senior pitcher Amanda Berard (Swansea, MA) and senior catcher Kayla Jandreau (Plainville, CT) were named Second Team All-New England by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for their respective performance in softball this season.

Berard, who was named First Team All-Little East Conference as well, has appeared in 35 games, starting 12 of them. Berard is 14-6 with five saves, a 1.20 ERA and 141 strikeouts in 146.0 innings pitched. She has compiled 10 complete games, one individual shutout and participated in six combined shutouts. Berard was named the Little East Conference Pitcher of the Week once on the season.

Jandreau, who was named First Team All-Little East Conference and team MVP as well, has played in 46 games, starting all of them. Jandreau is batting .367 (55-for-150) with 40 runs scored, 55 hits, 10 doubles, one triple, two homers, 23 RBI and 20 stolen bases. She owns a .487 slugging percentage, a .423 on-base percentage and a .993 fielding percentage. Jandreau was named the Little East Conference Player of the Week once on the season.


Head Coach Maria Morinís team is 34-12 overall and finished the regular season with a 9-5 (second place tie) mark in the Little East Conference. RIC lost in the Championship Game of the 2011 Little East Tournament, 7-1, to Eastern Connecticut on Saturday, May 7. It was the fifth time in six years that the Anchorwomen reached the conference tournament title game.


RIC has gone 1-1 at the Providence Regional of the 2011 NCAA Div. III Softball Tournament. In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will play Endicott on Saturday, May 14 (10 a.m.) in an elimination game.
