4x400m Relay Record Falls at New England
Open Championships

New Haven, CT-The Rhode Island College men's and womenís outdoor track & field teams had selected student-athletes compete at the New England Open Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut on Friday and Saturday, May 13-14.


The menís team tied for 35th place (37 teams) with a score of 1.0, while the women did not register a team score.


The 4x400m relay team comprised of sophomore George NíTow (Providence, RI), freshman Craig Amado (Providence, RI), sophomore Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) and classmate Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) broke their own program record with an eighth place finish (3:19.84).


Amado placed ninth in the triple jump (13.95m) and 14th in the 400m (49.54). N'tow placed 13th in the 400m (49.35). Senior Mike Macedo (North Scituate, RI) placed 18th in the 10,000m (32:41.64).


On the womenís side, sophomore Kim Mangum (Warwick, RI) placed 15th in the triple jump (10.90m) and 23rd in the long jump (4.98m). Senior Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) placed 11th in the 400m hurdles (1:05.44).


In upcoming action, select members of the team will compete at the ECAC Div. III Championships, host by Moravian on May 19-20.
