Coro Named NEWBA
Player of the Week

Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College junior guard Stephanie Coro (North Providence, RI) was named the New England Women's Basketball Association's (NEWBA) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her performance in two games last week.

Coro, who was also the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, continued her torrid shooting pace in a 1-1 week for the Anchorwomen. She shot 52 percent from the field (17-for-33), 40 percent (4-for-10) from downtown and did not miss (4-for-4) from the free throw line. Coro scored a team-high 21 points in a loss to Bridgewater State on Nov. 23 and reached the same point total in the win at WPI yesterday afternoon. She also chipped in with four steals against the Bears, while handing out three assists against the Engineers.

Coro has played in six games, starting all of them. She is averaging 20.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 3.2 steals per game. Coro is shooting 50 percent (46-for-93) from the field and 38 percent (12-for-32) from downtown.

Head Coach Marcus Reilly’s team is 5-1. The Anchorwomen will play at Connecticut College on Thursday and host Eastern Connecticut in the Little East Conference opener on Saturday.
