Aikens Help Lead Anchormen To Second Place
Finish at Coast Guard Invitational

New London, CTóFreshman Brandon Aikens (Cumberland, RI) won both the 55m (6.72) and 200m (23.44) events as the Rhode Island College menís indoor track and field team saw action at the Coast Guard Invitational. The Anchormen placed second (four teams) with a score of 137. The hosts won their meet with a score of 261. USMMA (121) and Connecticut College (68) rounded out the team scoring.

Classmate Craig Amado (Providence, RI) claimed the only other individual event victory, winning the 400m (51.86). Amado also posted a pair of second-place finishes in the long jump (6.35m) and the triple jump (13.8m).


Senior Kyle Duguay (Cumberland, RI) placed second in the 200m (23.61) and third in the 55m (6.83). 


Sophomore George N'Tow (Providence, RI) finished right on Amado's heels in the 400m, finishing second in (52.64). N'Tow placed third in the 200m (23.71) and fifth in the 55m (6.84).


The Anchormen took a pair of second place finishes in longer distance runs.  Sophomore Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) finished less than one second off the winning pace in the 800m (2:05.16). Classmate Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) was the runner up in the 1,000m (2:40.36). 


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 22.
