Waltham, MA-Rhode Island College returned home from the Brandeis University Women's Volleyball Invitational after dropping four matches. The Anchorwomen fell, 3-0, to both Little East Conference rival Eastern Connecticut and Trinity on Friday night, before being shutout by the hosts and Tufts on Saturday afternoon.


RIC opened up vs. the Warriors (7-2) in a match that did not count against the LEC standings. ECSU took the first set, 25-18, then breezed through the final two stanzas, 25-16, 25-15. Junior outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) paced the Anchorwomen with six kills and six digs. Freshman middle hitter Marina Stoermer (Seattle, WA) contributed four kills, five blocks and 10 digs, while junior setter Jessica Ho (Providence, RI) handed out 11 assists.


 Trinity (3-0) ended the Anchorwomen's evening with a shutout, winning the first set 25-17, before packaging a pair of, 25-16, wins in sets two and three. Boyer had five kills, eight digs and two blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Amanda Cabral (East Providence, RI) chipped in with six kills, five digs and two blocks, while sophomore libero Harley Mitchell (North Smithfield, RI) led the squad with 13 digs.


 Day two wasn't much better for the gold, white and maroon as Brandeis (3-0) opened the day's action with convincing, 25-12, 25-15 and 25-18 set wins. Boyer registered 11 kills, six digs, three blocks and two service aces. Cabral added seven kills, three blocks and three digs, while Ho set up 17 winners.


Tufts (3-0) closed out the tourney for the Anchorwomen with, 25-14, 25-16 and 25-12 set wins. Boyer had seven kills, Cabral notched four winners and Ho posted 13 assists.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to St. Joseph's (ME) for a dual match on Wednesday, Sept. 14 (7 p.m.).
