McCloskey Leads the Way for RIC Menís Cross Country
Anchormen Finish 18th Overall at UMass Dartmouth

North Dartmouth, Mass.-Junior Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) placed 28th (255 competitors) with a time of 25:50.22 to guide the Rhode Island College menís cross country team to an 18th place (34 teams) finish to open the 2011 campaign at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.


The Anchormen totaled a score 523, while MIT won the meet with a score of 31.

Junior Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) placed 123rd with a time of 27:45.59. Sophomore Cameron Richer (Woonsocket, RI) finished 134th with a time of 27:58.09.


Freshman Ian LaPlume (Hope Valley, RI) placed 140th with a time of 28:12.84. Junior Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) finished 157th with a time of 28:40.50.


Rounding out the Anchormen were freshman Marcus Sandoval (Portsmouth, RI) and sophomore Tom DeCristofaro (Smithfield, RI). Sandoval placed 183rd with a time of 29:32.71, while DeCristofaro placed 191st with a time of 29:49.63.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete in the Elms College Invitational in Chicopee, Mass on Saturday, September 24 at 10 a.m.
