Anchormen Take Third in Second Meet of the Season

Chicopee, Mass.-Junior Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) took first overall among a field of 64 runners to lead Rhode Island College to a third place finish at the Elms College Cross Country Invitational on Saturday afternoon.


McCloskey, who clocked a time of 27:49, helped RIC total a score of 55.0 on the day. The University of New England won the meet with a score of 35.0. In addition to seven full teams, runners from five other institutions also competed.

After McCloskey, RIC captured 12-15th place as junior Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) posted a time of 30:50, sophomore Cameron Richer (Woonsocket, RI) finished with a time of 31:15, freshman Ian LaPlume (Hope Valley, RI) logged a  31:32-effort and junior Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) followed at 31:38.


Sophomore Tom DeCristofaro (Smithfield, RI) wrapped up the RIC contingent with a 20th-place finish (32:00).


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Gordon College on Saturday, Oct. 1.
